This print has a just-woken-up-on-holiday feeling, with it's drifting blue-green colour blend and glowing orange. A curious cat has crept out of a jar of marmalade and has fixed his eyes on a little fishy.
As a kid I was lucky to have children’s books from the 1950s passed down to me from my Dad. Their vibrancy gives me an amazing feeling even now. This print is my own take on the idea of a ‘marmalade cat’; inspired by Orlando The Marmalade Cat, the hero of Kathleen Hale’s illustrated books published between 1938 and 1972.
It is a hand-pulled two-layer, colour-blend screen print on archive quality cartridge paper.
